Bisnis.com, TANJUNGPINANG – Processed coconut products from PT BOF in Bintan, Riau Archipelago, in the form of desiccated coconut and coconut chips have successfully penetrated the American market for the first time in early 2022. “This is an early breakthrough in 2022, hopefully This is a good start and exports will continue to increase this year,” said the Head of the Tanjungpinang Agricultural Quarantine, Raden Nurcahyo Nugroho, Monday (7/2/2022). Raden said that the first export of coconut chips and entering the first United States (US) market was an effort by BOF. the success of the threefold export movement program (Gratieks) launched by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Planting coconuts is a very profitable long-term investment, because the flowers, fruits, leaves and even coconut stems all have a sale value. According to him, the market for processed coconut products abroad is very open. Not only processed coconut meat, processed coconut coir is also in demand by foreign markets. Currently, in the industrial area in Bintan Regency, a coconut coir processing plant is being developed, with an export-oriented market. “When everything is running, this will be an integrated coconut processing system in one location.
“So that coconuts from gardens that have been registered as organic can directly enter the factory without having to be peeled first,” he said. In this service, service users only send PPK online. “The certificate will be delivered to the user’s service location after a series of certification violations have been passed and PNBP payments are completed via e-billing,” he added.
Separately, the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo said that the business in the agricultural sector is very promising and has proven to be able to support the Indonesian economy in the midst of a pandemic, because food needs cannot be regulated under any circumstances.
